GEA-NZ dimension: Infrastructure

The infrastructure dimension is one of the 4 core dimensions that represent the operational aspects of your enterprise architecture.

The infrastructure dimension of the framework ensures that the infrastructure components of an enterprise are adequately understood, while the related understanding the infrastructure landscape of an agency.

For this dimension infrastructure is defined as the generic, underlying platforms upon which specific/customised capabilities (solutions, applications and software services) may be deployed. These can consist of hardware, software and delivery components, including cloud services. The term platform used in this context covers physical as well as technology infrastructure components.

Strategy, investment and policy Infrastructure helps policy compliance through the adoption of common capabilities.
Governance and performance Infrastructure provides the infrastructure that enables governance and performance measurement and control, and offers opportunities to improve business efficiency through sharing and reuse.
Standards

Infrastructure sets the infrastructure requirements that drive:

  • development of specific NZ government standards
  • adoption of appropriate international, regional and NZ standards.
Identity, privacy and security Infrastructure provides the infrastructure controls needed to support identity, privacy and security requirements.
Business Infrastructure provides the infrastructure that supports business services, processes, capabilities, information sharing, and reuse.
Data, information and analytics Infrastructure provides the technology/digital infrastructure to support secure, timely processing, analysis, storage and exchange of data.
Application and software services Infrastructure provides the internal or external infrastructure for hosting applications and software services.
